Reach Out to Others with Your Story

The best way for you to find your voice is to start by telling your story. You don’t have to be a writer to do that. You can draw it, make a collage, tell it by speaking to people one on one or in groups, talking into a voice recorder or to a video camera (even when you’re alone in the room)–it’s completely up to you. You can write a letter to someone or something that you have opinions or feelings about. You can write a letter to the editor of your favorite magazine or newspaper.

The shortest distance between two people is a story. If you feel isolated and misunderstood, telling your story is the first step toward feeling connected and part of a caring community. There are others who feel the way you do. I can almost guarantee it. Find your people by telling your story.

About lana1967

I'm a Southern girl at heart who wants to build a community of people who believe they can change the world with words like "love" and "freedom" when they become more than words, but actions in our work and our daily lives.
