15. Out of Breath
While editing announcements for a newspaper, I came across an item promoting a camp for children with asthma. Aside from all the wonderful activities the kids could enjoy, such as canoeing, swimming, crafts and more, it promised that its lakefront property offered something the kids probably did not expect: “breathtaking views.”

Today’s poetry prompt gave me a chance to focus on the reason I’m here–disability, creativity, and a little bit of activism. Somebody really needs to step up their awareness on publicizing camps for children with asthma.

Out of Breath

When picking a place to go have fun

Perhaps the best place to enjoy

When you have something like asthma

Isn’t a place that has "breathtaking views."

I don’t know about you

But I kinda like breathing.

Gorgeous views are nice,

But I hope that if the view is "breathtaking,"

Someone there is prepared to help

people get their breath back!
