I’m Still Here!

If You Could Be Anybody, Who Would You Be?

Jane Addams

She changed the world
By organizing their communities
If it weren’t for her, we wouldn’t know we were poor.
And we wouldn’t know there was something we could do to change things.
She gave us hope that changes could happen and taught us how to make them happen.
Now if we can just live the way she taught us…be the change we want to see…
Maybe we can do the same.

back to another time

Tie dye everywhere
Rabbit ear televisions—
some with color, some with black and white;

Front and back doors unlocked
Because no one steals in Pleasantville.

Girls bake and take cookies to their boyfriends
Boys hold doors open for their girlfriends
And pick them up at the door.

Elvis shook things up with his hips and his voice.

The Beatles are the soundtrack of teenagers’ lives.

It’s a tie-dye world.

Back to blog updates tomorrow–I’ll tell you about my third surgery coming up in the past year. I don’t have a date yet, and I have to get some of the details straight before I talk about it much.

About lana1967

I'm a Southern girl at heart who wants to build a community of people who believe they can change the world with words like "love" and "freedom" when they become more than words, but actions in our work and our daily lives.
